The client for this project was a brazilian/swedish family with two kids and a huge family on both sides. What was important for this family, was to mix the Brazilian interior with Scandinavian factors, as the wife wants some of her own culture in her house.
I will add some photos of the process, with technical and 3D drawings
Some info of the family to help start designing their needs
The house is located in the interior of Sao Paulo. This is a colder region surrounded by forests. Humidity and cold weather will be a focus while choosing the materials.
The dad, the Brazilian works for Petrobras, a Brazilian oil company and travels alot. The swedish mom, is a fashion designer and works alot from home which requires a home studio.
The biggest son is soon finishing highschool and wants to study architecture
The youngest one, the daughter is 4 years old, loves to read and paint and it would be great to have space for visitors to stay over
The parents wants a part of the house to be designed as an apartment to rent out or to use when visitors arrives.
THIS IS THE LAYOUT ACCEPTED BT THE CLIENTS
To move towards this layout, we needed to demolish some walls from the old layout and build new ones. The red lines are new walls to be built, while the yellow lines are walls to be demolished.
Some of my favourite parts of a project is projecting the lightning. It looks like a very colorful layout, but it´s all to specify light switches and their power, hights, etc. It´s alot of detailed work, but the lightning in a project is so important, also for the electricians.
SOME OF THE TECHNICAL DRAWINGS OF THE HOUSE
(which is mainly the architects responsability), my job was to:
- put together materials for walls and floors
- layout for all rooms
- specify lightning
- choosing furnitures
- choosing art
- furniture design for the son´s, daughter´s and guestroom.
- technical drawings, electricity, lightning
- 3D drawings for presentation to the clients
The drawings are made by SketchUp and Photoshop. (I did not renderize this project)
The main goal with this project was to construct an amazingly huge house uniting two different cultures and design styles, to find a balance between the needs of Scandinavian and Brazilian design.
The Scandinavian style exposes the simple use of furnitures (no heavy furnitures), and a major use of wooden floors (instead of ceramic).
The Brazilian style brings colorful artwork, burned cement on the walls and built in beds for some of the bedrooms. ( I learned so much about personalized furniture design my years in Brazil, and really wanted to be able to design some extra fun bedrooms for the kids and the guestrooms.
